I went in today with a large return. 15+ (30 gallon bags). Not once was Amy rude. She held conversation when she could, she was quick, and patient & honest. I appreciate the kindness!

Horrible place, went into today. I greeted the gentleman with a hello even try to keep conversation going completely ignored me. I had a total of six full garbage bags. After he after he was finished he told me I had 205 items total came to $10 and change. Normally when I go to my regular place I have over 500 pieces with five bags. Anyways I thought it was strange get out to my car do the math I was sort $2 and some change because on the window it says they charge $0.06 a can versus $0.05 at my regular place. I went back in to talk to the gentleman and he just looked at me dumbfounded and said that the all sales are final nothing he could help me with. I would advise no one to go there I sure as heck won't be back

Holley Bottle Return FAQ

Who we are?
The redemption center market in the Western New York area has been ignoring a key element to our business, customer service. At Upstate we vow to bring the same fast, friendly & clean customer service that you have come to expect from other business’. After you try our Holley redemption center you will never use another or touch a bottle return machine again! We guarantee it.
What do we accept?
We buy back anything with a NYS 5 cent redemption mark on it. If you are unsure, check the lable of your bottle or can; or the top of the can. It will have the states that you can redeem the item in listed.
What don't we accept?
  • Non-deposit bottles & cans
    • Gatorade
    • Iced Teas
    • Juice
    • Milk, etc. Our buyer’s plant does not process non-deposits.
  • Kegs
  • Growlers
  • Water cooler jugs
  • Crumpled or crunch items
  • Wrapperless items

Why no crushed or wrapperless items?

We have to sell the bottles and cans back based on average bag capacity per the size of the item. So, if we put crushed cans in our bags we are putting in a lot more than the average bag capacity and lose money. If we don’t have wrappers to identify the item, we can’t put it with the correct bags to be properly accounted.

How do we make money?
New York Bottle Bill set forward in 2009 gives a handling fee to any redmeption center registered in New York State. We are paid to handle your recycling for you and for the state.
Do we take all recycling?

In a way, Our Holley Redemption Center can recycle the cardboard and plastic bags that you bring your recycling in. But, we cannot accept cardboard and plastic in bulk. Our intermediary won’t buy back non-drinking receptacles and the garbage bill would be too high to not charge you. Sorry!

We recommend taking all of your other recycling needs to ecopark. They can recycle most things for free, small fee can apply for more hazardous materials.

Does it matter where I bought them?
Nope! we will handle that for you. Part of the function of bottle return is to sort the material. We sort it by brand, size and material. That way it can be sent to all the correct places the material needs to go.
What makes it depositable or not?

The truth is, we don’t know. We were not in business back in 2009 when it passed. We were not able to find any good answers. What we can tell you is that the majority of carbonated items such as beer, pop and energy drinks along with water are depositable.

Non-carbonated drinks are non-deposit. This is not the end all be all, there are exceptions. Check your labels, every  item is marked with the states that you can return it in.

What if my bags are gross?
We know your bottles and cans might get dirty & sticky from time to time and it’s OK, we have gloves! We just ask that you try your best not mix in excess garbage. However, for sanitary reasons we cannot accept insect infected bags or rotting food.
