About Cure Bears

Cancer is hard for anyone but harder for a child facing long treatments and procedures, so our program strives to show a child that they are not alone in the battle against childhood cancer.

CURE BEARS FOR HOPE AND LOVE was established in 2013 and supports children in treatment for cancer.  Giving to one child might not change the world but it will change the world for that one child.

Currently the program has developed three different ways to give to children with cancer:

  1. CURE Bears for Hope and Love has been sending/delivering bears or other stuffed animals purchased at Build A Bear Workshop to a child to help provide some emotional support and a gentle reminder that they are not alone.
  2. Additionally, the program has expanded to provide a bald “American Girl” type doll to help with the trauma of hair loss that children in treatment are facing that results from chemotherapy.
  3. Finally, CURE Bears has delivered toys during the holidays that are given locally to families that have a child in treatment for cancer.  Costs to the family facing a child with cancer makes holidays difficult financially so having holiday toy deliveries for the families helps provide gifts during the holidays that might not be possible otherwise.

Whether CURE Bears for Hope and Love is providing the special doll,  bears or the holiday toys,  these are all reminders that a child is not alone when they are facing cancer.

Cans and bottles donated to CURE Bears remains huge in helping the program to meet their goal to provide love and hope to the child and their family.

Any location of Upstate Bottle Return can accept any cans or bottles with a New York state deposit so merely mention that you wish the returns to be credited to CURE BEARS or email us at curebears@frontier.com to arrange for pick-up using a contact free method.

Follow the program on Facebook page CURE Bears for Hope and Love to see the impact that is being made and to see photos of some of the children that have received a bear or one of the dolls from the program.

Thank you in advance for your support

About ROC The Dogs Rescue

ROC The Dogs Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer only dog rescue organization serving only Rochester New York. We are committed and passionate about rescuing animals locally regardless of the reasons. We rescue animals from our local shelters, given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, found strays, and those in danger of abuse or neglect.

Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement.

To the extent our finances allow, dogs/cats in the greatest need take priority.

Virtually every dollar raised goes directly to the care of the animals we agree to take. ROC The Dogs Rescue remains interested in and committed to the welfare of the dog/cat beyond the adoption process and will make every effort to take back the animal that is being surrendered.

Finally, we strive to work with area shelters and other rescues to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets.

Reach Out & Read

Reach Out and Read gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together. Our objective is to improve literacy and relational skills of young children between birth and age five, particularly in low-income families. Our program trains pediatric medical providers to encourage parents to read aloud regularly with their children and provide parents with the knowledge and tools they need to nurture early learning, including a new book.

Holley Hawks High School Trap Team

This is a fundraiser to provide ammunition for the high school trap team to be able to shoot trap this year in 2023. Price of ammunition over the past few years has gone astronomically high which eliminates a lot of kids who would normally want to shoot trap from being able to because of the cost. This fundraiser provides ammunition for those who cannot afford it. This keeps the shooting sports alive and well in Holley
